Iva Sklempe Kokic is an Assistant Professor and researcher at the Faculty of Kinesiology, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia where she currently holds the position of Vice Dean for Research and International Cooperation. She also teaches at Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka, Croatia at the graduate study programme in physiotherapy. Her primary research field is women’s health, particularly effects of prenatal exercise on metabolic health and locomotor system. She has a bachelor degree in physiotherapy, and a master degree in exercise science with specialty in sports physiology. Furthermore, she finished her PhD thesis in Applied Kinesiology in 2016 (“The Impact of Structured Aerobic and Resistance Exercise on the Course and Outcome of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus”) at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies, University of Primorska, Slovenia. Dr. Sklempe Kokic is registered physiotherapist in Croatia and Chartered physiotherapist in the UK, as well as exercise scientist and professional, registered as Advanced Health and Exercise Specialist with the European Register of Exercise Professionals. She is regular reviewer for numerous journals such as BMJ Open, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Journal of Pain Research, PLOS ONE and Sports Medicine Open. Furthermore, she published over 90 peer reviewed articles, presented at national and international conferences and led several clinical trials in the area of the effects of exercise and physical activity on different health conditions. She developed training program in prenatal and postnatal exercise for Croatian physiotherapists and exercise professionals. She has over 15 years of experience as a professional and educator.
